Vocations

Join the National Vocation Awareness Campaign of Prayer

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops says, “National Vocation Awareness Week will be celebrated in our country November 1-7, 2020. Please ask Our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons and consecrated men and women. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God’s gift of a vocation.”

In our contemporary times, it is a “mini-miracle” that anyone is able to hear and respond to a religious vocation. It is a miracle that can only be explained by the power of prayer and the efficaciousness of God’s grace. Our prayer for vocations is ultimately a response to Christ’s personal call for us “ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38).

In observance of this week, the Archdiocesan Office of Vocations will be sponsoring and promoting a prayer campaign that involves praying a short prayer each day so that the Catholic faithful in the Archdiocese may be open to a religious vocation.
